Subject: Castanea dentata :
Comments: I have a Sweetheart American Chestnut in my yard that is 5 years old. It sometimes turns golden in the fall and it bears fruit every other year. I have a Dunstan in the back yard which is the same age and it too bears fruit. The Sweetheart is presumed to be a naturally occurring hybrid that was found in SE Ohio by a professor of Botany at Ashland College, OH. It may be a blight resistant native species actually.
